Description of Research: Dr. Butler is a neuroscientist and physical therapist. He is a Research Health Scientist and the director for the Brain plasticty lab at the VA RRD Center of Excellence. he the Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Physical Therapy at Georgia State University. He received a PhD in the Department of integrative physiology from the University of Iowa. Dr. Butler's main research interests focus on understanding the problems of upper limb motor control following stroke. He studies these questions using lesion mapping, functional MRI and transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Relevance to VA: Dr. Butler's work will help aging veterans with mobility problems.
