The following federal holidays are recognized as holidays for AREF employees:

Some organizations recognize different days for any of the above holidays. Foundation employees may follow the holiday schedule of the site in which they work upon approval by the manager and AREF's Executive Director. If the hosting organization does not recognize a particular holiday, it is the employee’s responsibility to inform the Foundation. AREF will notify the manager that leave is authorized for that particular day.
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, AREF will recognize the holiday on the preceding business day.
If the holiday falls on a Sunday, AREF will recognize the holiday on the following business day.
If the holiday falls on an
employee’s scheduled day off, another will be designated as the day off within the same workweek at the request of the employee. E.g., if the workweek is Tuesday through Friday, the holiday is Monday; the employee may request to observe the holiday on another workday of the same week. This applies only to full-time employees with an approved compressed workweek or part-time employees.
If a holiday falls on a part-time employee’s day to work, they will be paid as per the scheduled hours for that date.
