Margie P. Aguayo, RN, CCRC
Director, Clinical Studies Center Operations
Margie Aguayo has 19 years of experience in clinical research.
She successfully developed the infrastructure of the Human
Research Program at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Ms. Aguayo
standardized and implemented policies and procedures for
conducting human research studies. In addition, she developed
an internal Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Program
for research. Ms. Aguayo serves as a liaison for the Research & Development
(R&D) Committee and Emory University Institutional Review
Board (IRB).
Moreover, Ms. Aguayo provides initial and ongoing training
and educational programs for research staff involved in the
conduct of human studies. She plays a vital role in the continuing
development of the Clinical Studies Center (CSC), and is
responsible for the overall operational management of the
Center.
Laurie Hunt, MPH
Human Studies Analyst,Clinical Studies Center
Ms. Hunt graduated with her MPH from the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 2001 and has been working in research since that time. She has experience working on several research projects from RSPH, Grady Memorial Hospital, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Atlanta Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC). Her areas of research include program evaluation of tissue and organ donation programs, breast cancer education in minority populations and evaluation of veteran blind rehabilitation services for the visually impaired.
Currently, Ms. Hunt provides submission guidance and support to investigators and their study staff conducting human subjects’ research with Veterans. She considers her job to one of customer service, and is pleased to bring that quality to the promotion of good clinical practice within the Atlanta VAMC.
